PixPerAn 30fps "not enough powerful" meaning
Hi everybody.
It's just a little interpretation question.
I'have bought a viewsonic vx2025wm and use it with a Ge Fx5200 128Mo and last drivers. I'm using a ferreited-VGA cable.
As I am a very boring man, I've decided that everything can NOT go well, so I ran PixPerAn
And I'm stopped at the first step :
My FPS (frame per seconde) is 30fps, frame lost is growing up.
It's explained my system "is not powerfull enough".
Hummm...
I get somes questions :
1) Is it my graphic board not powerull enough ? I run a "official" 1680X1050@32bits 60 Hz (that's what xp said...)
2) Is it my graphic board to old to support "really" or "cleanly" 1680x1050 (WSXGA+) ?
3) Can my LCD have a hardware dysfunction so he can not raise up to 60fps ?
It's a lot of question for a only a person, thanks to people who could answer some on them.

RE: PixPerAn 30fps "not enough powerful" meaning.
Hi CramTeXeD,
No, your system is powerful enough. It's just DirectDraw-driver-hurt. PixPerAn uses a pretty old DirectDraw version and it seems that some driver / video board combinations don't care about performance of old DirectDraw stuff.
Some screens in PixPerAn offer a "hide windows" option which reduces the gpu load and may raise the frame rate to 60 fps (can be checked with F12 in this mode).
Your LCD is probably allright. If really your LCD cannot display more than 30 fps (this really happened already!), there is no way for the program to find this out, so it will still show 60 fps in its frame rate display.
Regards
Wilfried

Hi!
1. Please specify what kind of graphics card you have.
If it's new, it might be a driver issue.
2. Probably not. It would have to be very old to not support WSXGA.
3. Highly unlikely. Please specify your monitor model.

Thanks Wilfried !
I've tested as you recommend to do. If I hidden the window, my FPS rockets up to 60 fps.
So low cpu (10-20%) hidden windows => 60 fps, no more lost frame
just a little bit more high cpu (20-30%) , visible window => 30fps, a lot a lost frame.
Ok so LCD seems to be out a concern for bad mesures. Weellllllll I can go to my bed now
it's late. But I will think about the DirectDraw stuff.
Thanks again Wilfried.
