REVIEW: HP LP2465 Part 13

Without any problems the HP-LP2465 displays subtle gradients of grey and color just as easy as dark movie scenes, fog, blizzards, and glare effects. Fast paced action sequences, battle scenes, camera panning and sudden cuts are displayed without any noticeable ghosting.

Thanks to widescreen format, very good image quality, and good response time, the DVD playback quality looks superb on the HP LP2465, thus scoring a rating of 'very good' for this category.

Conclusion

Quite similar to the smaller HP LP2065, the performances shown by the HP LP2465 are for the most part good and very good. Overall, workmanship and mechanics are very good. The outer appearance of the silver and black LCD monitor with its slim bezel design is appealing; the controls elements and the OSD of the HP LP2465 are good. In terms of features, two DVI-I inputs, a USB hub as well as the numerous ergonomic functions really did convince us.

The subjective image quality of the HP LP2465 very good; users will be pleased by wide viewing angles, deep black levels and smooth color gradients. Even semiprofessional graphics software is no problem on this monitor. For image editing, design or graphics work in professional domains though, the color accuracy of the HP LP2465's won't be quite up to the job.

The LP2465 offers good response time which most users are likely to consider more than sufficient. Other allround LCD monitors, yet with somewhat of an advantage inn terms of speed, are for example the ViewSonic VX2025wm or the Eizo S2410W which is equally large at 24 inches.

Also the maximum brightness which falls far short of the manufacturer's specifications should not go unmentioned. Despite the fact that 404 cd/sqm may be enough in every possible respect, it is nevertheless annoying to see the manufacturer's statements not only not being met but falling way below at that.

The LP2465 manages to convince with performance and quality combined with its inexpensive street price slightly above 1000.00 Euros. If you are thinking of buying a 24 inch allround LCD monitor for office, DVD and occasional gaming, the LP2465 is definitely worth looking into.
