REVIEW: NEC LCD1990SXi Part 6
The OSD provides the following functions:
Adjusts contrast and brightness. The automatic contrast is available when using analog connections. ECO mode reduces power consumption by lowering brightness. By means of the AmbiBright sensor, the brightness of the screen automatically adjusts itself to meet the respective ambient light conditions. Black levels can be separately adjusted, too. Values (0 to 100) are represented as percent.
Automatic Adjustment (analog input only)
Automatically adjusts picture position, pixel clock, and stability.
Left/Right and Up/Down adjusts the horizontal and vertical image position of the screen. Width and height of the image are adjustable for analog connections. Likewise, the optimization of the image's stability and sharpness is only available for analog connections. The automatic optimization readjusts the image on its own every 30 minutes as well as each time a different signal source is selected. Interpolation Options are accessible via the menu item Expansion, these being: Full screen, fixed aspect ratio, 1:1 display (Off), and custom defined.
Color control systems
There are seven predefined color profiles available: 1, 2, 3, and 5 can be customized by the user. Whereas the items sRGB, Native and Programmable can not be altered in the OSD.
The menu item Programmable uses the color tones defined in NaViSet. The colors red, yellow, green, cyan, blue and magenta can be separately adjusted. Possible settings are represented on a scale from +31 to 0 to -32.The default value is 0.
This menu item lets users set the image sharpness. The item DVI Selection lets you choose input modes, while Video Detect determines the method of signal detection. With the Off Timer, one can specify a point in time at which the monitor is supposed to turn itself off. And IPM (Intelligent Power Management) puts the monitor into standby mode after a certain time of inactivity. Color Comp electronically compensates slight variations in the white balance level.
The menu is available in eight languages. In order to customize the OSD to one's taste, users can move the OSD position using the function Up/Down and Left/Right. Additionally, Turn Off allows to change the display duration of the OSD. The function OSD Lock Out restricts access to the controls. What's more, the OSD transparency as well as the colors (red, blue, green, and grey) can be changed, too. The item Resolution Notifier controls whether or not the user should be notified as soon as a resolution other than the physical 1.280 x 1.024 is being used. The notifier shows up after 30 seconds and can be deactivated. Hot Key enables direct control of contrast and brightness by means of the rocker switch. With Factory Preset, values are reverted back to their default settings. Once executed with the Select button, there is no more Yes/No confirmation request.
This item provides information about the current resolution, internet address, the active input signal source, as well as vertical and horizontal frequency. Furthermore, it indicates model name and serial number.
