REVIEW: NEC EA261WM-BK
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad
Japanese electronics giant NEC manufactures practically everything that is offered in the entertainment and PC electronics sectors. In the display sector, classification is according to target group, so monitors are produced and marketed for the "Value", "Corporate", "Lifestyle", "Professional", "Colour Management" and "Medical" sectors.
The model we have selected, the NEC MultiSync EA261WM, is being marketed as a "Corporate Display” and should therefore mainly be of use for office applications which require a considerable amount of space and will be granted this thanks to the 26-inch display size.
However, this test should also show whether the monitor also conceals other qualities which extend beyond pure office use.
We used the DTP94 Colorimeter from Quato as well as the related iColor Display software in Version 3.0.5 for out test. Where other tools were used, this is indicated in this review.
Accessories for the NEC MultiSync EA261WM.
As well as the utensils displayed above (VGA cable, DVI cable, USB cable, manual, driver CD, power cable and audio cable), our test model also came with a US power cable. The monitor comes already assembled in a typically simple box and can be set up straight away. However there is no transport security feature and thus, the screen always has to be raised to the highest position before the model and base can be lifted together.
The driver CD contains the monitor profile in *.icm format. Also included are the installation data for the "Adjustment pattern software" and NaviSet as well as the user manual in a large number of languages.
