REVIEW: Samsung 2263DX Part 10Comparison of factory setting "Film" with the sRGB standard:
If you select the factory setting "Film", you will receive a slightly better result as compared with the factory settings. The white point deviation is not as high as before, but the gamma value is a little further off the target. The average deltaE deviation of 6,8 is somewhat lower than before, but still satisfactory.
Advertisement Comparison of factory setting "Warm" with sRGB:
The white point has been achieved almost perfectly. However, the gamma value still deviates strongly. With an average deltaE of 6,6, the result has been improved again a little in comparison to the two previous monitor profiles. However here, too, the sobering conclusion prevails. The result is still not satisfactory. The deviations in the grey values are still absolutely too extreme. Comparison of factory setting "Warm" And Gamma Mode 2 with sRGB:
In the OSD, the user can select from the 3 Gamma settings amongst the colour settings. Since the previous profile was perfect in terms of white point, we tried to achieve a better gamma value. We were able to reduce the value to 2,36 in the Gamma 2 setting. This is certainly not a perfect value, but it is the best result we were able to achieve using the monitor profiles. The average deltaE could be reduced to 5,7 and achieves a satisfactory level, whereby the results for the grey values (deviations up to 13,1) does not reflect this result. Comparison of calibrated profile with sRGB standard:
When the monitor is calibrated, the white point and gamma value are optimal. The average deltaE deviation can be reduced considerably. The colour blue seems to pose the most problems for our test monitor. The deviation of the individual colours has improved markedly, the grey values have undergone an almost incredible "healing" and the average value has been reduced to 2,0 deltaE. This leads to a very good result. Although the monitor cannot convince in its factory settings, the calibration shows that it is possible to tease a very good result from it in the sRGB colour space. We selected the following values in the OSD as compared with the factory settings (50/50/50): Brightness 20 %, R = 50 / G = 45 / B = 35.
Representation of the RGB correction curve of the graphics card after calibration as per the sRGB standard. The closer the coloured line is to the 45° axis, the fewer colours have to be discarded for the correct calibration of the graphics card and the more intact the colour gradients remain.
