REVIEW: AOC 2436Pwa
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad
Recommended by the manufacturer for "professionals and business applications ", AOC is bringing a 23,6-inch TN monitor to the market which should appeal to office users in particular with a wide range of ergonomic functions. Because of good energy and environmental features, the 36th ID display series, from which the 2436Pwa comes, has won EPEAT certification. Power-conscious users should be able to enjoy a low level of power consumption. The following review should clarify whether the 2436Pwa can justify this claim or whether it even emerges as a gamer monitor.
All results published in the test were obtained via the digital input of a type X1950Pro ATI graphics card in the Powercolor on-board layout. For the measurements related to the calibratio, we used the iColor-Software together with the DTP94 colorimeter from Quato and the "Colorimetre HCFR" software. In order to test the video functions and the suitability of the monitor for gaming, we used the BDP-S350E Blu-ray player and the Sony Playstation 3, both of which were connected via a HDMI-DVI cable.
The AOC 2436Pwa is delivered in an appropriate box: as i soften the case, the monitor and base are included separately, but they can be screwed together with ease, even if you do not have a screwdriver. The small number of glossy surfaces on the base and back are covered to protect them from scratching.
Complete set of accessories - AOC shines with a generous scope of supply.
The scope of supply consists of a DVI cable for digital connection, a D-Sub VGA cable for the analogue connection, an external device cable for the power supply, a 3,5 mm jack connector for controlling the integrated speakers, a USB upstream cable and a printed getting started guide and the complete manual in digital format on the CD as well as the monitor itself.
