Design and mechanics

Hyundai has adorned the W220S completely with a high-gloss finish. Thus, the design is very appealing and elegant. In am almost innovative manner, the back has been covered in white lacquer, making the W220S a real eye catcher. And as if no expense was to be spared when it comes to reflective surfaces, the display also has a glossy layer.

However, where there is light, there is also shadow: the high-gloss finish requires intensive care, since dust and fingerprints are quickly visible. If you use the wrong cloth to clean the model, you are also running the risk of ruining your expensive acquisition with scratches. Therefore, we recommend that you care for your monitor with a moist microfibre cloth.

In terms of office functions, the Hyundai W220S is frugal. The 22-inch model offers only a poorly implemented tilting function. However, if this is insufficient for you, you can attach the monitor to a monitor arm using the VESA-100 fixture.

A lot of strength required and a small tilting angle.

Overall, the manufacturing quality of the Hyundai W220S is convincing: the surface is rounded at all corners and edges. Only when the tilting angle is being adjusted can a creaking sound be coaxed from the W220S because of the high level of strength required.

Despite its heavy weight of 7,3 kg, the W220S’s base offers sufficiently secure support, with no slipping.

Like the rest of the exterior, the base also has a glossy, smooth design.

In contrast to many rival products, Hyundai has held back largely in terms of the feature labelling in the corners of the monitor. Whilst the manufacturer’s logo is resplendent in the middle at the bottom (the classic position), only the 3D ability of the monitor is indicated in simple, grey text in the top right hand corner.

Logos are used subtly and frugally.

Because of the low number of ventilation slots, the W220S offers a very limited attack surface for sand flies. Although the backlight does not shine through, this danger should not be forgotten about, especially in summer.
