Introduction

All results issued in this review have been established by using the the analog input. Our test bed ran with a Gainward 750 Geforce4 Titanium graphics card.

Scope of supply

Next to the display, the package contained a manual (quick manual) to set up the monitor, a D-SUB cable, a power cable, a CD-Rom holding drivers, monitor profile and detailed manual in PDF format.

Design

The NEC LCD1701BK comes very close to the looks of the NEC 1760NX-BK. It’s the lacking DVI-D and the pedestal that separates the two. The monitor has a plain and functional design with a narrow frame measuring 1,7 cm on all sides except the bottom where it measures 2,7 cm.

Its case is black and the frame is silver. All buttons for operating the OSD are built into the lower area of the monitor’s edge. Access to the rather brightly colored buttons is sub-optimal, however better than with the black version, since their stamped labeling is easier to read. The monitor has an ON-/OFF- button and an internal power supply unit.
