REVIEW: NEC LCD1980SXi-BK
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad
We want to begin with emphasizing that the NEC 1980SXi-BK reviewed by us is a sample from pilot-run series and we don’t have any knowledge wether the device finally available in Germany will be identical to the one we have got.
All results issued in this review have been established by using the digital input, with the exception of the test runs for analog image quality, which have been established on the analog input. Our testbed ran with a Asus V9570 graphics card.
Alongside the display itself, the scope of supply consists of one manual, one DVD-ROM (containing detailed manual, test images, test software and drivers), one D-SUB to DVI-A cable, one DVI-D cable as well as one power cable (3 m).
Although its frame is rather narrow at 18 mm, the 1980SX-BK's appearance seems pretty tough. The case is entirely black, just a little darker than the 1980SX-BK or 1880SX-BK series. The front view looks simple and plain, but when looked at from the sides things change: the display is very low, which is due to the stable pedestal. Compared to older models there has been no major revision of design aspects. The way too bright LED showing the operational status can get quite disturbing when i.e. working late hours in darker environments.
