REVIEW: NEC LCD2180UX![]()
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad All results issued in this review have been established by using the digital input, with the exception of the test runs for analog image quality, which have been established on the analog input. Our test bed ran with a Gainward 750 Geforce4 Titanium graphics card.
Advertisement Next to the display the package contained the following items: one manual (quick manual) to set up the monitor, one D-Sub cable, one DVI-D cable, one power cable, and one CD-Rom with drivers, monitor profile, pivoting software and a detailed manual in PDF format. Additionally they deliver a wire cover enabling the cables to be invisibly ducted to the back when being looked at from the front. The NEC 2180UX's outward appearance with its narrow frame is very pleasing (1,5 cm). The case is beige/white and the front frame is silver. Aesthetics are held plain and straight-forward. The NEC's side face makes a somewhat more stable impression, which doesn't lessen its excellent design however. While other manufacturers have been concentrating on design aspects more and more over the course of the last months, we cannot stress the importance of image quality and practical serviceability enough. This is where a lot of new design wonders have their weaknesses. NEC focuses on things that have proven well and sticks to their previous design.
