Introduction

All results issued in this review have been established by using the digital input. All reviews have been carried out utilizing a Matrox Parhelia graphics card.

Scope of supply

Digging through the carton we found a silver analog and digital cable, an audio cable, as well as an all-black external power supply unit. The analog and digital cable caught our attention with its color and slanted connector. The speakers are mounted stationary ex works. Particularly the silver cables seem to be an eye-catcher and are definitely worth mentioning at a price of 460,00 Euros.

Design

On the outside the S17-1 manages to make a solid and noble impression. The pedestal is crafted from pure aluminum and, due to its slight bulge, comes off very gracile. With the frame being 3.3 cm wide, the monitor makes a rather huge, but in no way clumsy, appearance. When mounting the panel and pedestal, two springs have to be pressed requiring a relatively huge amount of strength.

The device does not provide any height adjustment. However the continuously variable incline of the panel works very smoothly and accurately.

If you use one of the slanted cables for connecting the LCD to your computer, the installation is going to be very easy. Unfortunately the cables' rather "economical" length of 1.30 meters won't be able to meet the needs of every user. If you plan on using a longer standard cable you should be aware of the fact that bringing the panel into a 100 % upright position won't be possible any more.
