Over the course of the previous months, ViewSonic has managed to quickly earn itself quite some popularity among gamers with the VX910. But it didn't take too long until Viewsonic introduced their successor model, the VX912, and the VX910 was out of availability. The thing that sets both models apart is the type of their incorporated panel. While the VX910 made use of a TN-panel with a response time of 16 ms, the new VX912 comes up with 12 ms fast TN-panel. Additionally, another LCD by Viewsonic, the VP912, is just one the verge of its market launch, which is going to feature a panel that is very similar to Sony's HS-94P with X-Black technology. The X-Black technology is characterized by a significantly better reproduction of black, which, however comes at the cost of a highly reflective face plate. After this short retrospection and preview, we will now turn to the VX912.

All results issued in this review have been established by using the digital input, with the exception of the test runs for analog image quality, which have been established on the analog input. Our test bed ran with a Gainward 750 Geforce4 Titanium graphics card.

Scope of supply

Next to the VX912, the package contains a DVI cable, a D-Sub VGA cable, a power cable, a quick manual and a CD with drivers, monitor profile as well as a users manual.

Left, you see the ViewSonic VX912's front and to the right you can see its rear view. The right picture shows the mounted cover plate for the connector cables. inks der ViewSonic VX912 von vorne und recht von hinten.

With the VX912, ViewSonic once more lives up to its name as a manufacturer of innovative and aesthetically appealing products. This monitor is a highlight in terms of design and without a doubt convinced us all the way. Although its exteriors are completely made from plastic except for the buttons, the Viewsonic VX912 looks noble and high class.
