Why do pictures and fonts on my LCD appear distorted and/ or blurred?
In contrast to CRT monitors, LC displays have a fixed pixel format on a fixed screen area. To enlarge resolutions to the size of the entire display area of an LCD, interpolation becomes mandatory. Some lines appear thicker if the interpolated resolution is not a whole-numbered multiple of the original resolution.
15 inch monitors: For 15 inch monitors, the fixed pixel format means that the LCD's native resolution is 1024 x 768. Resolutions that are lower than the pixel amount of the LCD panel result in distorted text and lines that seem too thick. In order to solve the problem change the resolution to the recommended setting of 1024 x 768.

17 and 19 inch monitors: For 17 and 19 inch monitors, the fixed pixel format means that the LCD's native resolution is 1280 x 1024. Resolutions that are lower than the pixel amount of the LCD panel result in distorted text and lines that seem too thick. In order to solve the problem change the resolution to the recommended setting of 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz.
As a principal, you should always operate an LCD monitor at its recommended (native) resolution.
