REPORTSSYSTEMS 2005 – Impressions and information by Achim Behrendt Translation by Johannes Post
Each year in October, the city of Munich not only draws a lot of attention for its Oktoberfest but also for its trade show SYSTEMS which is taking place from 24th till 28th of October. For a couple of years now, SYSTEMS has evolved more and more into a trade show for software, IT security, media and communications. Unfortunately, this trend results in many manufacturers deciding not to appear with their own exhibition booth, particularly in the hardware sector. Our main interest was in LCD monitors, of course, but other computer components such as graphics cards were worth a look for us, too.
Sadly, but it didn‘t take us long to notice that people, like us, being interested in displays or LCD TVs in particular, might be disappointed by the exhibitions offered on SYSTEMS. None of the bigger players is present with a booth for the display sector.
Whereas on CeBIT 2005, the number of exhibition stands by display and LCD TV manufacturers had been nothing short of overwhelming, the SYSTEMS represents quite the opposite.
Advertisement Indeed many displays can be found here and there at the booths of various manufacturers, but they are merely intended for the purpose of presenting other products.
Therefore, the exhibition stand is not about displays or LCD technology itself, but rather about the respective product the presentation is dealing with.
