With a global market share of 22.8 per cent in the third quarter of 2011, Samsung is the most profitable TV company , again with a clear lead. Among the five largest TV makers, the South Koreans are the only ones that have been able to increase their annual sales performance.
With the exception of Japan, where the company has not been selling TVs, Samsung has achieved the highest revenues in any other region, both in the LCD and plasma TV segment. In the 3D segment, the active-shutter proponent has also achieved the first place in terms of sales. Only LG, Samsung's next-door rival has had higher revenues in one area (CRT).
In the LCD and PDP segment, the second-largest TV maker ranks second and third place, respectively. In quarter three, LG had to contend with a small sales decline, and currently, their world market share is 13.1 per cent. Despite a considerable quarterly slump of eight per cent and the highest annual revenue loss of all major vendors (13%), Sony remains third, followed by Panasonic, the number one in the 3D plasma area.

Scoring an impressive 18 per cent, Sharp has achieved the highest sales increase since the second quarter. 2012, in the 100th year of its existence, the current number five in the global TV sales ranking continues to grow, for example in emerging countries such as Malaysia, where they want to occupy 15 per cent of the LCD market.
As an official partner of the European Football Championship, the company intends to make advantage of the popularity of the sport and share responsibility for some UEFA campaigns.
