Panel producer LG.Philips LCD will present its latest achievements in the public display unit sector at the CES trade fair, which will begin on January 7th in Las Vegas.
Multi-touchscreens in 42-, 52- and 84-inch formats
The 42- and 52-inch multi-touchscreens respond when touched with fingers or pens and are also capable of recognising two simultaneous touches and also gestures thanks to an infra-red sensor.

The interior of the models boasts the latest technology such as touch sensitivity of 90Hz and light transparency of 95 to 100 percent. The panels used have the FullHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.
The new flagship of LG.Philips LCD’s multi-touchscreen series is a huge 84-inch model composed of four individual 42-inch displays which function as one single monitor. Measuring 1.5 cm, the frames have been kept as small as possible so as to ensure that the image impression is not spoiled.

47-inch Triple View monitor displays three images at the same time
LG.Philips LCD's 47-inch Triple View monitor can display three different images at the same time on the entire display surface. By splitting the light, the monitor allows three different images to be seen from three different viewing angles.
Thus, a person looking at the screen from the left will see a different image than one looking at it from the right or from underneath. This public display model would be of interest as a possible map in shopping centres or as an advertising space on the street.
Double-sided and transflective public display
The company will also present a 47-inch double-sided display at the CES that is 30 percent thinner than conventional models. An image in full HD resolution can be displayed on both sides and the brightness level is 500 cd/m².

In addition, LG.Philips LCD is to present a transflective display with 42-inch diagonal that is particularly suitable for exterior installation. Transflective means that both transmissive (from the backlight behind the panel) and reflective illumination (such as reflected sunlight) are used to illuminate the model.
In this way, a very high brightness level of 1,500 cd/m² can be achieved and the image content can be recognised even in strong sunlight. Transflective displays are also suitable for very dark locations and can therefore be used day and night.
