Monitor manufacturer EIZO is concentrating more and more on energy efficiency and Green IT and is bringing an increasing number of monitors with EcoView technology to the German market. The new generation screens adjust the monitor’s brightness to changes in the lighting of the surroundings and switch automatically to power-save mode as soon as the user moves away from the monitor.


Depending on the model, a white LED backlight is used, which is bright and nonetheless uses an extremely low amount of energy. "On average, it is possible to save around 28 kilos of CO˛ per year with an EcoView monitor", explains EIZO Sales Manager, Bernd Heuhsen. For a company with 10 monitors, that is 1.4 tonnes of CO˛ in five years.


Studies prove that consumers are only a little concerned, or sometimes not at all, with the energy efficiency of their monitors. This means that several million PC monitors run daily in Germany with excessively high brightness or run on full power despite long periods of not being used. This is where Eizo’s technology comes in.

Through low levels of power consumption, the models naturally also save costs. This is why the technology is of particular interest for companies which think in an economical and ecological manner as well as for end-users.
