NEC is following the current trend and introducing a 24-inch monitor with an inexpensive TN panel to the market. The AccuSync LCD24WMCX with FullHD resolution 1,920 x 1,200 will be available from end October for €559.00.

The monitor delivers a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a maximum brightness of 400 cd/m². NEC advertises the LCD as having extensive viewing angles of 160 degrees, even at a contrast ratio of 10:1 according to the press statement.

The response time is 5 ms, which means that the LCD24WMCX is a particularly likely candidate for a games monitor. Gamers will also be pleased with NEC’s use of a glossy layer, marketed as OptiClear.

The LCD also has the features necessary for multi-media use: it comes with a DVI-D input with HDCP, a HDMI input and a component output. Two integrated 3 watt speakers are also included.


However, users will have to do without ergonomic functions such as height adjustment. Gamers will be pleased to learn that NEC has apparently decided not to include overdrive or dynamic contrast adjustment.

When it comes to design, NEC has followed fashion and covered the exterior of the 24-inch monitor in a black piano-lacquer look. As usual, the guarantee is valid for three years. The AccuSync LCD24WMCX is being listed on price search engines already for less than €500.00.
