Epson is bringing a new short-distance projector to the market: the EMP-400W weighs 3.6 kilograms and can project a 1.5m image from a distance of 65 centimetres.
The model is based on 3LCD technology and has a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels, so it can display the HD standard 720p. A 170 watt lamp provides brightness of 1800 ANSI lumen and a contrast value of 500:1.

The lifetime of the lamp is up to 4000 hours in Eco mode according to the manufacturer. As well as two VGA and two Component inputs, the projector features an S-Video connection and a Stereo input.
The integrated 10-watt speakers can be run on this latter connection. Unlike these, the fan on the EMP-400W is pleasantly quiet at 28 decibels and cools the 32.7 x 25.8 x9.5 centimetre projector adequately.

According to Epson, the projector does not have a warm-up and cool-down time; this is because of its "Direct Power On-Off" technology. In order to avoid unauthorised use, the projector can have a password saved.
In addition, the projector can be viewed and controlled from every computer in the network via an Ethernet port using the Epson EMP Monitor software. The Epson EMP-400W should come to the marlet in March and will cost € 1,780 .
