The new Samsung Thin Client Display TC190 offers a screen diagonal of 19 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels in 5:4 aspect ratio. The TC190 is available in two versions with different sized Flash Disk Modules (FDM): buyers can choose between a model with 2 GB FDM and one with 4 GB FDM. The use of FDMs instead of conventional, mechanical hard drives hard drives allows for lower power consumption and increase robustness of the devices, since no mechanical parts can fail. The main memory has 1 GB RAM for both models.
The 24-inch TC240 has a 16:9 panel with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and can thus display content in Full-HD quality. In addition, the Thin Client Display is equipped with a generous 4 GB Flash memory and 1 GB main memory. The panels for all the models have a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a fast response time of 5 ms.

All new Thin Client Displays are based on an AMD platform, which combines energy efficiency with a high performance. The AMD Sempron 210U processor has a speed of 1.5 GHz and, together with the integrated AMD Radeon X1200, offers a sufficient performance for demanding applications. The power consumption when the models are in use is just 45 watts (TC190) or 65 watts (TC240) and therefore considerably lower than for conventional desktop orThin Client solutions.
As well as the integrated Gigabit Ethernet port, the models also have additional connector options such as USB 2.0 (4x), VGA input and output as well as a serial and a parallel port for connecting additional external devices.
The new models are delivered with the Windows Embedded Standard operating system. Thus, they are compatible with servers run on Windows Server 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. Citrix XenApp is provided for application management of the Thin Client Displays. It is possible to move the required applications to the IT centre and store them on the servers there with XenApp instead of letting them run on the desktop.
The new Samsung Thin Client displays are available from November. The Thin Client Display TC190 with 2 GB FDM costs 749.00 Euro and the model with 4 GB FDM costs 789.00 Euro. The 24-inch variant (TC240) will retail at 849.00 Euro.
