With the ProLite T2250MTS, Japanese monitor specialist Iiyama is expanding is portfolio with a monitor which should be highly popular both in the home and in the workplace. The 21.5-inch monitor not only boats the FullHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, but also offers an integrated touch panel sensor, thanks to which image content can be controlled directly on the screen using the fingertips.

In time for the introduction of the Windows 7 operating system, which supports touch panels, Iiyama is presenting the matching ProLite T2250MTS in Japan. Similarly to the iPhone or Nintendo DS , all desktop content can be controlled directly on the screen with a small amount of hand motions. Whether it is maximising or minimising a window or rotating an image, all operations can be carried out intuitively by hand. Here, the screen can be used at up to two touch points, so to maximise a window, the fingers need only be splayed. Double clicks should also be possible without difficulty.

However, if this is still not sufficient, it is also possible to misuse the screen as a drawing board and write or paint directly on the screen. Especially for business meetings with diagrams or for use as a quick replacement as a graphics tablet, this screen should soon find friends. If the stylus is no longer needed, the user can simply slip it into the suitable place on the right hand side. In order to prevent scratching of the front of the screen, Iiyama has equipped the model with a robust glass cover.

In addition, the T2250MTS has a response time of five milliseconds and a brightness of 270cd/m². The model has a digital DVI and an analogue VGA input for image feedthrough – unfortunately, buyers have to do without HDMI. In order to ensure that image content is displayed to its best advantage, the model has a contrast ratio of 1,000:1.

However, precise details of the display panel used are not yet available, nor is a launch date for countries outside Japan. The model will be available from the mddle of December in Japan priced at the equivalent of 409.99 Euro. Thus, theb Iiyama ProLite T2250MTS can be expected to appear outside of the Land of the Rising Sun no later than the start of next year.
