The highlight of the newly presented models is a monitor with a screen diagonal of 60 inches. According to information from the company, Sharp is the first manufacturer to offer such a gigantic model as part of its product range. Three more new products are also on offer in the 52, 47 and 42 inch sectors. The official market launch of the PN-E601, PN-E521, PN-E471and PN-E421 is planned for March 2010 in Europe.

All four models are distinguished by frugal power consumption, light weight and very narrow frames. The models, with screen diagonals ranging from 152 to 107 centimetres, have the FullHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 16:9 format in common. Since they do not need fans, silent usage is guaranteed around the clock: all monitors are designed for long-term usage.
The reduced edge surface because of the narrow frames makes it easier to use more than one monitor at the same time. Here, Sharp uses the building block concept: fur multi-monitor solutions, there is the option to use what is known as an interface board with additional ports (I/F expansion). The manufacturer recommends its new models for interior use in traffic control centres and other control rooms as well as for video conferences and digital signage.
"With our innovative line-up of professional monitors, a new era is beginning for Sharp ", explains Peter Heins, product manager for professional monitors at Sharp Electronics (Europe) GmbH. "In the future, we are also as well prepared as possible with competitive products in the quantity sector for 60-inch screens." The efficient production of the displays in Sharp’s own 10-G factory (10th generation) – the first in the world- makes it possible to offer the models at an attractive price-performance ratio, Heins continued.
According to the press release, Sharp is also carrying out pioneering work in its plant in Sakai, Japan: currently, no other company is in a position to produce panels measuring 2.88 x 3.13 metres from 10th generation mother panels and process them into LCDs for professional monitors. From a purely computational point of view, the plant could produce 432,000 of the 60-inch displays per month from 72,000 mother panels.
