With the monitor's wide-ranging target group from small-to-medium sized businesses (SMBs) as well as the educational and governmental sector, NEC besides the AS231WM offers another four environmentally neutral models. The AccuSync series fans out to two monitors with classic 4:3 format in 17 and 19 inches (AS171, AS191) and the wide-screen-displays AS191WM and AS221WM offering a screen diagonal of 19 and 22 inch, respectively.
Jointly and severally, the packages of all models show the silver EPEAT label, describing the environmental properties, as well as the Energy Star 5.0 and TCO 5.0 badge.
According to the manufacturer, The 'green squad's' top model contains only half of the mercury content to be found in conventional displays of that size and consumes 50 per cent less power. Considerable part of it comes from the eco-mode which minimizes the heating problem and extends the display’s lifetime, too.

"The 23-inch AccuSync model is the best of NEC’s leadership in green technologies, and customers will find it at an affordable price”, product manager Lynn Gu said, self-confidently.
In her opinion, particularly business applications could profit from the wide-screen format and the touch capability.
Except for the latter, and its eco-friendly figures – for example a low power consumption of 20 Watts in the eco-mode – the AS231WM does not offer anything spectacular. The simple combination of VGA and HDCP capable DVI-port is conventionalised as Ambix dual-input technology, but even for a business display might not have a bright future. The carbon footprint metre seems a bit hyperbolical, too.
Anyway the monitor comes with full HD resolution and offers a high static contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Its brightness value is at 250 cd/m2 and it has five milliseconds response time. The panel can not be rotated or pivoted, but at least the AS231WM can be tilted. To integrated speakers are firing down; the monitor already possesses Window 7 certification and comes with a three year warranty. Starting in may, the AccuSync AS231WM will be available at a street price of 269 US Dollars.
