California-based specialist for touch screen solutions, Lumio, has given its popular Crystal Touch series an update: The company's new displays now are able to support three simultaneous points of contact – though they are only provided with two optical sensors.


Due to the fact, that the touch control feature in Lumio's Crystal Touch series is made possible by using only two sensors, additional components are saved. That way, manufacturing costs are decreased. Lumio’s customers will profit from these savings, as the company provides high-value touch screen solutions at a favourable price. Other makers’ products usually require three or even four sensors, which is why such hardware shows an increased failure rate in comparison Lumio's Crystal Touch series. Particularly the sensors in the lower edge region are not very resistant to environmental influences.

Lumio's 4:3 and 16:9 format Crystal Touch series is intended for professional application in the industry and will be offered in screen sizes ranging from twelve to 100 inches. Optionally, the company will manufacture screens in customer-specific formats.
