OLED is the technology of the future. However, apart from promising announcements, Sony is the only manufacturer which is introducing an 11-inch OLED TV set to its product range. However, LG seems to have a 15-inch model which is ready for production and has announced that this will be available in December 2009.
As Won Kim, Vice President of OLED at LG indicated in an interview with Engadget, the first final finished OLED display from LG will be on the shelves in time for this year’s Christmas business. This model is a 15-inch OLED TV. In comparison to the 30 or 40-inch LCD televisions which are currently in fashion, this is surely a dwarf, but is still 4 inches larger than the current model from Sony.

No information has yet been provided on the technical specifications. Currently, it is assumed that the model will have a resolution of 1,366 x 786 pixels and a contrast of 1,000,000:1. The possible hours of use are expected to be a maximum of 30,000. The 15-inch OLED display will first come to the market in Korea. Prices have not yet been announced, but the assumption is that the sales price will be relatively high as compared with the size of the screen. The Sony 11-inch XEL-1 costs a full 3,200.00 Euro.
