REVIEW: Samsung LE-52F96BD Part 13Through reducing the signal sources that can be combined with each other, Samsung has caused the Pip and PbP functions to be nothing more than a nice gimmick. The fact that only the position and not the size of the window in PiP mode can be changed strengthens this impression. At this point, we do not want to leave the standard image function of the 52-inch TV unmentioned; this freezes the image being displayed and functions with all signal sources.
Advertisement Console We tested the suitability of the Samsung LE-52F96BD for gaming using a Playstation 3. In order to increase the response time of the LCD TV, the S-MVA panel is supported with overdrive technology and therefore achieves response times of 8 ms grey-to-grey.

The LE-52F96BD also offers a games mode that can be activated in the menu. According to Samsung, this gives rise to a higher degree of sharpness and a faster response time amongst other things. In practice, however, we can establish no visible improvement and the difference from normal image mode is minimal.

Apart from a slight motion blur for fast scenes, there is no reason for complaint regarding the responsiveness of the 52-inch model, so console gamers will not have any problems with the F96. We did not notice any negative effects such as streaking or delayed image display. We should also mention in relation the motion blur that this phenomenon is caused by the technology used in LCD monitors and TVs. The motion blur arises in the eye of the observer (Sample and Hold effect) and is observed by every person in a different degree of severity.
