The PiP (Picture in Picture) function makes it possible to have a little window with different content on the display screen. In doing so, you can for example watch a movie from DVD on the big screen and simultaneously have a small window displayed for some time to i.e. watch the news.


If an LCD TV has two TV tuners, it is also possible to display two TV channels at once. The PiP function of most devices work in a manner that one can exchange the content of the smaller windows with the content of the bigger one at the push of a button. In parts, the size and position of the displayed window can be defined individually as well.




The splitscreen function is basically indentical to picture in picture function with the difference of not having a small picture being shown but having the display area split.




If the LCD TV has a D-Sub or DVI input and is connected to a PC, it is often possible to i.e. surf the net and at the same time watch a movie using the splittscreen or the picture in picture function.
