The FFC (Federal Communications Commission) i an independent authority located in Washington D.C. It regulates communication in the United States and tests devices according to its own and other norms (e.g. ISU, ISA or ITU).


The Office of Engineering and Technology department also distributes identification numbers in the high frequency sector. Without these numbers, products cannot be launched on the US market.

In Europe, frame agreements between the European Commission and the national regulatory bodies determine the standards.
