"Ambilight is surround for the eyes". This is the slogan Phillips is using to advertise its patented brand Ambilight, which breathes new life into the television. The goal of this technology is to create a suitable light and colour environment which is in harmony with the image content. Ambilight also serves to relax the viewer ad makes the television experience more intense, says manufacturer Phillips. Studies support this statement.
The gentle light is created using more than 150 high-performances LEDs and surrounds the screen. The LEDs adjust constantly to the dominant colour pattern and thereby create harmony fort he eyes. In order to offer the customer individuality, it is possible to set up various modes.

The first series from 2004still required manual controls. Cathode ray tubes on the back had to be controlled by remote control.
