The new standard for LC displays ensures qualitative transparency on the display market.
By having introduced the standard ISO 13406 as part of the TÜV ergonomics test and thereby having passed LCD specific ergonomics standards for the first time, the International Standards Organization has paved the way in terms of transparency due to the increased demand for LC displays. Up until now, there was only the norm ISO 9241 part 3, 7 and 8 which set according standards for workstations. However, these requirements had been developed for CRT monitors and don't take into account specific properties of LCDs.

Therefore, the most important quality criteria of the new ISO norm are:
Display luminance Contrast
Color reproduction
Uniformity of luminance and colors
Font analysis
Flickering Reflections Pixel errors
The assessments of the aforementioned criteria are taken into account for allocating three different classes that are declared within the scope of the ISO certification.
