Budget LCD for Photo work

  • I wonder if you could please make a recommendation for a LCD monitor to be used for digital photo work (mainly).

Budget is 300-400 Euros. DVI is not necessary as computer has analogue connector. Tilt and height adjust are desirable. USB's would be useful.

An sRGB calibration function is highly desirable as is wide viewing angle.

Currently I am considering Viewsonic VX715 or ACER AL1731.

    Your advice is appreciated.

  • You need the device only for photoworking?

Where are you from, please give me a link to a shop you want to buy at.

Bot device you looked out, are with a TN panel. TN panels have a small viewing angle and bad colours.

  • You don´t play games, right?

What is about the Belinea 101920 or the 101910 (older version). They have a MVA panel, are around 400E and have a very good picture with a perfect viewing angle.

  • Would the 17" Belinea be as good? (same panel)? (101750)

Also is there a Benq equivalent to the 101920 or 101750?

    Thanks

  • Yeah, the 101750 ist quit good too. For graphic working it´s quit perfect.

Why you want to have a Benq? The only one which is good for graphic working is the Benq FP992. But I don´t know the device personal, it´s a suggestion out of reviews!

  • Thanks for the advice.

I've decided to go for the 101751

    Merry Christmas.

  • I finally went for the 101920 which arrived last night.

I am very pleased with it so far - the build quality is excellent (no dead pixels at all !!). The colours are impressive and I haven't attempted any gamma calibration yet. I tried a few of the Nokia tests and didn't notice any trail effects or ghosting (but then I'm not a high speed gamer so I'm not looking for these effects and might not be very critical).

Also I am still waiting for my dvi cable so things can only get better!

So Totamec your advice has been excellent and is appreciated - I am very glad I found this forum before spending my 428 euros.

By the way I suspect it is the later 101920 model because it has very 'sharp' corners (not rounded like in some pictures I have seen). Do you know whether there are any 'significant' differences with the previous model?

Once I am more familiar and experienced with the monitor I would be happy to provide a review (if you think it is of interest - maybe already done many times by others more expert than me). You will need to tell me what tests to conduct and what results to report though.

So thanks again I now understand why you are so enthusiastic about the 101920.

  • The view-angle of the new 101920 is not that well as it was by the old model. That is the main difference.

A review? Thank you :) Every review is welcome - specially from you!

Just write what you see. How does the TFT react in office, games, photo work (are the colours right?), movies. How is the workaround? What do you miss? Makes it any sound? How does the mechanic work?

I´m very happy that we found the perfect TFT for you! It was a nice co-work with you ;)

Hope you will tell your friends about our page!

If you have any problems, don´t be afraid to ask.
