HP 1955

  • Hi. I am looking into buying HP 1955 LCD monitor. I can get it very cheap (under 500€).

I use my home pc for:
    -40% browsing,office,programming,graphics design
    -40% dvd/xvid/divx/tv tuner video
    -20% gaming

I read the review and got very interested in this monitor since i had to return my previous (Hyundai L90D+) because it was defected (couldn't get a new one though) and this monitor got great review on prad.de.

    BUT

I also read/heard that this monitor has some ver concerning issues in setting off bright colors (white) on dark background (black). Was this only an issue in some of the early series or is it still present in today models. How much is it disturbing in practice (I want near-perfect picture in video, I watch it on distance like 2-4 meters, video that is).

    Thanks!

  • I've also looked into P19-1 premium, but is it worth 100EUR difference?

  • Hi,

the HP has the 8/16bit colour problem. When it goes to fast sequenzes in games for exp., the TFT switchs from 16bit to 8bit. So the colours doesn´t look that well, it gives an unpretty picture at that moment.

The 100EUR difference to the P19-1A (A is important) are a good investition.

  • Looks like I will not be able to get the A model for quite some time.

How about iiyama 481B? Is it really as good (vibrant colors, brightness, equal distribution of kontr/bright across the screen, low response, sharpness)?

  • The 481 is perfect! It has the same panel as the FSC P19-1A. Buy, buy, buy :D

  • Doesn't anybody have real experience with this TFT?

I'm thinking about buing it, but I've seen bad reviews upon it's color bugs in too contrast scenatios. Is it truth. Is it still problem, or it was a bug of a few new pcs and now it is corrected?

FSC P19-1A is till response times 25 ms (iiyama 481B).

Don't you know any 19" LCD acceptable for games and video in price around this HP?
