Hello,
I just bought new TFT NEC 2190Uxp and during my testing I have found a problem with image expansion function - it doesn't work in DVI-D mode. In some cases I'd like to use 1:1 non-interpolated resolution. But e.g. when I boot DOS in textmode or run some old SVGA game it is allways stretched to entire screen regardless on expansion setting. I wonder that monitor always report 1600x1200@60Hz DVI resolution even in text mode. But when I set lower resolution under windows it works! How can monitor recognize that video signal comes from DOS/Linux/Windows? I belive that DVI transfer just raw pixel data.
When I connect monitor via analog cable the expansion works under all OS and all resolutions. It also report correct mode, eg. 740x400@70Hz for textmode. Also I found that interpolation from analog signal looks better than from DVI.
What about other NEC users? Does it work for you? Did I missed something in OSD?
ps. my VGA is nVidia GF7900GT with 2xDVI-I
