    I would like to know why laptop monitors (that are supposed to have less quality than desktop monitor, since their size is limited) are 15.4" and 1920 x 1200, while a desktop monitor to have 1920 x 1200 resolution, must be 24" and above?



    how laptop monitors achieve such high resolution and desktop monitors cannot achieve it?

    I think it is very essential to display in the characteristics list of each monitor the 'dots per inch' (dpi) value of the monitor


    because as we all know, dpi value shows the REAL resolution, REGARDLESS the size of the screen


    for example, a 20" screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution is much better than a 22" screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution


    dpi value shows the absolut resolution of the screen so it is very useful as well to be mentioned in the characteristics list

    I mean, for eg. LG Flatron L194WT it says:
    Contrast Ratio = 2000:1
    and
    Dynamic Contrast: -


    is this true? I think 2000:1 is the dynamic contrast of this monitor

    I would like to search for monitors by optical contrast ration and by digital contrast ratio


    I dont want to search for the sum of those two


    I mean, most LG are 3000:1, but they use digital contrast ratio, which is very low quality comparing to true optical contrast ration

    can even hardcore gamers realize it? perceive any difference?


    or its just a marketing trick to sell?


    what response time is enough for other than gaming pc activities?

    we can search for monitors >20 inches, but we cant search for >20inches AND <24inches


    can you add this ability please


    also can we select multiple color depths, etc, generally multiple values for each search term


    last, there is a problem, searching for eg 178 viewing angle, it ommits the monitors that have no data about vieing angle, or they have horizontal or vertical only, etc

    is there a comparison table of the different types of panels?


    I have understood that what only matters in lcd monitors is their panels


    every manufacturer gets the panel and puts his electronics to make it better


    knowing the panels' basic characteristics and their limitations would be really helpful


    I know there is a short article about that, but a comparison with real numbers and facts would be best

    what will need to be done in order to say that reading/watching a monitor is as tiring for the eyes as reading/watching a paper/photo


    what is left for monitor technology to reach perfect vision for the eye? more brightness? less dot pitch size? more contrast? higher refresh rates? what?
