There are just a few screens, which canpass teh 1k contrast at all. A contrast of around 700 is pretty good. We're not talkin marketing badges, but true facts here.
The PA271 (PA not P) is still the 27" reference monitor at the 1k price range.
Contrast is just the ratio between a dark and bright spot. As aforementioned, the contrast rates have not change much compared to VA panels, just the black depth and the brightness. VA deeper black, but not even close to IPS brightness vice versa.
As aforementioned above and the VA technology is kind of limited considering precise color reproduction due to the comparably low brightness.

- The Philips 271PQ4PJKEB was measured to have 1:4000.
==> Not only the black depth is phenomenal, the contrast as well.
- I calibrated it to a suitable 160cd/m2 which resulted in 44% brightness setting
==> The panel is bright enough.
- I compared it to some other screens. None had the same blackness and contrast and i learned to love them.
- The colors of the S1910 were reviewed to be great according to prad although it has a VA panel (with contrast 1:1000).Do you know a good several-thousand-contrast 27inch screen out there worth being evaluated?

Hi utzutz
thanks very much for your reply.
1920x1080 is not a problem for 27 inch per se. Reason: A 25 inch full HD screen would have same pixel size as the described Eizo. Putting a 27 inch screen 27/25 or more farer away results in same or smaller pixel size on the retina with less accomodation efforts for the eye.
AdobeRGB sounds very promising, but the u2713H was measured to have 25ms latency by tftcentral which is somehow a no-go and very likely more than the S1910.
Contrast of the dell is < 1:1000, contrast of the NEC is 1:600 as tftcentral claims.Right now i have here a Philips 271P4QPJKEB, uncalibratable non-linear colors, but i never want to give away its awesome black depth and contrast.
I wonder why there are no more 27 inch high contrast VA panels out there with better colors.

... no ideas yet?
Seems like good contrast screens get more and more rare -
Hello forum,
since some days i am looking for a replacement of my Eizo S1910. The requirements are:
- 27 inch
- equal or better image quality in terms of contrast, homogenity, color space, color precision, view angle, constant backlight, ...
- equal or better response time
- at best 1920x1080I was very content with the S1910 and dont want to miss the quality. But it seems like Eizo does not have any interest in making a good panel for that monitor size. :((
Do you have any idea?
Thanks very much for your help!
cheers,
Axel
