Hello,
first of all, great site! You guys should get paid for this
I want to buy a 19" tft to replace my 17" Sony sdm-hs74B wich I am not very pleased with.
The things I find important:
-color reproduction (especially black, not very good with the Sony)
-viewing angles (the vertical viewing angle of the Sony is bad)
-must have DVI
-no ghosting
The Sony has a 16ms TN-panel, a rather fast panel (I thought) but when scrolling in text it lags. I sometimes play games(only racing games) and there I don't see much ghosting, rather strange isn't it? I always thought that ghosting was higher in games then in MS office, surfing,...
After reading on this forum I think I need one with an IPS-panel or a PVA and the 2 screens that interest me are:
-Iiyama e481s :411euro (I'm from Belgium)
-Dell 1905FP :454euro
What I want to know is wich one has the best image quality and wich one has the least ghosting (in text).
I read that IPS and TN-panels are more reactive then MVA/PVA.Almost all users of the Iiyama are happy with it, they say there isn't much ghosting and colors are great. Some users of the Dell complain about ghosting and washed out colors, there are more negative then positive user reviews.
But when I read "professional" reviews they all say the Dell is a very good screen:
I really don't understand why the user reviews are so different from the professionel ones.
I also bought a German magazine (PC Magazin) with a test of 19" tft's. They measured the response times and the Dell was almost as fast as the Philips 190s5 (16ms TN)
Dell: "mittlere schaltzeit: 31ms, ISO-schaltzeit:22.1ms, max schaltzeit:37ms"
Philips: "mittlere schaltzeit: 30ms, ISO-schaltzeit:16ms, max schaltzeit:44ms"
The Iiyama wasn't in the test but I found on the internet that it it has a "mittlere schaltzeit" of 29,..ms, about the same as the Dell.
PC Magazin said about the Dell: "Der 1905fp ist ein Top-Monitor mit guten schaltzeiten und einem brillianten Bild"
Are they wrong?
