Philips 190P7ES: Is white color uniform in all screen?

  • Hi, with the screen completely white, is color (white) uniform at the eyes?. Yesterday I bought this Philips 190P7ES. In general I'm happy so I have noted visually that the bottom left part of the screen is a slightly more obscure (white slightly gray, not much) than the rest. It only happen with very clear colors like white. Is a defect or is common?

Any help would be very apreciated.

    Thank you very much.

  • Could be an effect caused by the backlight, which is not perfectly even when measured as you can see here.

    Thanks...

Do you mean that it(white not is uniform at sight) happens on all units of 190P7ES?...

What annoys me is that it is perceptible for my eyes... Although it is not scandalous and I believe that I might to being accustomed/adapted.

At first I had thought to use warranty to request a replace of my unit by a new one... But I have some doubts, because my actual unit has no dead pixel and have not any other defect... buff I don't know... ?(

  • How often do you look at a completely white screen?

If you will answer this question with occasionally then you should keep the display.

I note slightly it whenever I work with a white background, as for example when I write documents with OpenOffice(writer) or MS word. And it is not occasionally. It is very often.

  • Does anyone else observes this effect (the white is slightly not uniform on all screen at simple sight -naked eye-) in this 190P7?. Is it normal/usual in a TFT model called "professional" by its brand(Philips)? :(

    Thanks.

  • I think perhaps it is a matter of personal perception (every eye is different, some more sensible than others). For example, my father also noticed this problem of uniformity of clear colors (mainly white), but at first my girlfriend told me that she didn't... So when I told her to see one's eyes only on the four edges of screen(whole white) and compare, then she noticed slightly differences on the clearness of them. She observed inferior left corner was slightly more darker(white slightly gray) than the rest.

  • In the end you have to decide wether it disturbs you or wether you adapt to it.

  • rinaldo: thanks a lot for your help!

Well, there is another question very disappointing about this monitor. I have tried this black test (instructions about), get it from another forum... And my new 190P7ES is only capable of represent (what I distinguish at naked eye) 8 or 9 levels of color black/gray (from 6 to 15), where my one year old Samsung 711MP, with in theory an inferior panel, is capable of represent all 16 levels!!!. I have proved it with almost all brightness/contrast/range colors possibilties, maximuns inclusive of course, before to confirm it.

Is my new 190P7ES defective?. Or an one year old TN panel deal better with black-grays that a P-MVA of last generation!?. I think it's odd!

Is it confirmed that this monitor mount a P-MVA panel?..

Could you so kindly to pass the test with your 190P7 and post and/or coment your results...

    Thanks. :D
