Colorimeter

  • Hi all,

I've recently bought an HP LP2475W display.

I'm quite pleased with it but I'm having lots of problems with color accuracy.

As pointed out by PRAD review the monitor default color settings are quite lacking and now that I tested in person I know the review was right, the factory calibration for this screen is TOTALLY WRONG ! (at least for my model with GIG 044 firmware).

Especially reds are way too saturated.

Obviosuly trying to play with color controls and some icc profiles I found on the internet didn't help..

So I'm looking now for a good hardware colorimeter that could help me calibrate this screen without buying a professional one as the LaCie Blue Eye series (I'm a software/web developer but not a graphics pro).
I've read somewhere that the Spyder3 series for instance doesn't deliver good results compared to other same-budget solutions like Pantone Huey Pro or the Eye One LT.

I'm looking to spend way less than 200 euros (here in Spain I can find the Huey Pro for 100 euros vat excluded)

Do you guys have any experience with some hardware calibration tools ? What do you recommend ?

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Marvan

  • I'm also looking for a budget to mid-rang colorimeter.

I do some web design, and while it's not important to have perfect colours, it's important to have fairly decent colours
