LG-Philips panele

  • To me it looks like LG-Philips are going away from ips panels. Take a look at these specifikations:

Allthough only the 17" panel seems to be in production right now.

Does this mean the end of ips-panels for computer monitors ? Should we be happy or sad because the viewing angle is going down and the pixel rise/fall time is also going down ? Should one buy a 19" with ips-panel() now before its too late ? Anyone comments ?

Btw, the specifications of the 17" looks very much like the specifications of the Samsung 172x. Does LG-Philips deliver panels for Samsung, or are almost all panel producers going to produce panels with only 16.2 mio colors but with fast response time ? And what does these 16.2 mio colors mean in real life. Will the monitor be slowed down if you use 32 bit colors in pc games ?

Does anybody know a call name for these new panels ? We all know the ips panels, I'm sure :))

  • No No,

LG just bought some test panels by AUO and they are quit good. LG still produces IPS Panels. The end of line for IPS panels is not released, so don´t be frighten of that.

I saw the Philips with the 19" TN Panel, the panel is quit good. Fast, good viewing angle, but a bad black.

The name you are looking for: TN Panel, as I already used above.

Definitely not ;). I've got an AUO TN inside with 16,2 Million Colors and it's very fast with 32bit; I need it for games Same thing with other 16,2 Panels.
