Should I cancel my order?

    Hi. Yesterday I ordered a Samsung 193P since I thought it was the best monitor for my needs. Then I see this:


    There is a new version of the 193P coming out called 193P plus and will feature a 8ms response time PVA panel with all other specs remaining the same (contrast 1000:1, 178/178 viewing angles etc.). Does anyone know when exactly can we expect those displays in Europe? Should I cancel my order and wait for the new model? I wouldn't mind if it's a bit more expensive I'm just interested in how long would I have to wait. If I have to wait more than 2-3 months then it's not worth it. What do you guys think? Does anyone have any news on when can we expect those displays to become available?

    Also, how much of a difference does the overdrive technology make? I believe some Eizo monitors already have it. Is it just another marketing trick or they are really able to achieve 12ms response time on VA panels? I was also wondering, is that 12ms "grey to grey" or "black to white"? Some people say the 8ms spec for the 193+ is for "grey to grey" response time. What does that mean? How is "grey to grey" response time measured? Do they only take the rise time into account or what? Somehow, 8ms for grey to grey sounds too good to be true for me. Thanks.

    As for overdrive technology you have a frontsite review here of the Eizo overdriver L788. Got good motion grades. Read for yourself.


    I dont see any problem with bying the 193P if it fits your needs. However the new model will probably be alot pricier.. and the old one will drop in price. If you are the type of person who beat yourself for a long time over such things I would suggest youd cancel.

    You're probably right. This isn't really the best time to buy the 193P. I'll cancel it and wait about a month or so and see what happens.

    Hmm. I didnt think about it being in german. Sorry. :) I thought it was in english. I can do some short translation from the short grades in the review. The short section has like several properties that can have grade from minuses -- to plusses ++.


    Picture stability: ++ (analog) / ++ (digital)
    Viewing angle: ++
    Contrast: ++
    Color spectrum: ++
    Subjective image impression: ++
    Greyscale resolution: ++
    Luminace disposition: ++ (A bit uncertain what they mean here)

    usability casual gamer: ++
    usability hardcore gamer: +
    usability DVD/Video: ++



    Hehe. I think that should be it. Some german speaker please complain if there is a big problem here. Only reason I could do this quickly cause I know the vocabulary is common to us here. :P Had to use dict.leo.org for Luminacy thingy though.


    But please dont wait too long. Then you become like me and get stuck and cant make any choice at all. Thats not good either. :)
