Help!? 17" LCD for photography work

  • Hehe, you need to join the European Union! ;P

But several Shops sell to other countries, though I have no idea how support is handled then. I did some Google-Ukraine search and it seems as if the VP191 costs about 560$ (I assume this is US Dollar, not ukraine money), which is about 460 Euros. That's exactly the same price as here in Germany.

One of the shops that has quite a good reputation for excelent service and prices is 3-Co. Their main advantage beside their good support services is that they offer a dead-pixel-test for free! That means, they check the display for any dead pixels or subpixels before shipping it to you, and only ship error-free units. I bought my own VP191 there.

If you decide to buy the VP191 in the Ukraine then watch out to get the 8ms model which has a contrast of 800:1 (not 600:1, that's the old model).

Unfortunately 3-CO don't seem to offer the cheap C19-4, but maybe you can ask them. By the way, FSC (Fujitsu-Siemens) is a market-leader for computer hardware in Germany, they usually sell quality products.

Have a look at their WEB-SHOP, then click on "DISPLAYS (nach Herstellern)" where you can find their displays sorted by manufacturers.

Also have a look at this "Displays aus Rücksendungen", where they offer somewhat cheaper devices (just a few Euros), that sometime have dead-pixels, but most of the time have just been send back by the original buyer. In Germany you can send back anything you buy on the Internet within 14 days. That doesn't mean it has any flaws, the buyer just made up his mind.

One of the other shops you might want to check is Mindfactory. Also have a look at Geizhals, a price-watch site, which shows you the cheapest dealers in EU.

    We're all mad in here...

I wouldn't mind this if prices for food and other goods wouldn't rise, this way I would be able to travel without visa to any EU country ;) BTW our government really wish to join EU, I've heard that they would cancel visa for most of EU countries and would hope that these states would do the same... time will show how it would be.

BTW I've watch today 19" monitors (some LG and Philips models), and I finally decided that wouldn't go for 19 inch, dot pixel is so too big for me... guess it wouldn't be pleasing to work with such monitor and look at these big pixels. Now I'm only consider 17" models and nothing more.

Thank you very much for online shops, I'll search through them and see if I can get something which would suit my needs from 17" sizes and with lower prices than here!(pixel checking before sending is something I'd like to get).

BTW I'm using Siemens mobiles for a long time and find them superior to other brands, so I really trust to this company and maybe would look for Fujitsu-Siemens P17-1 and
Fujitsu-Siemens P17-2 in the shops you've suggested and see if it's worth to choose one of them instead BenQ FP72V.

yeah, I know there are shops in Kiev(our capitol) which have such prices for bulk orders, but if I try to order from one of such shop I'll probably pay 20$ for shipping so there is no sense to order it from them if I can get it with local shop for 600.(anyway as I said before I'll not look at 19" from now).
