What about LCDs 4 ms Gray to Gray?

  • Hello,
I need an 19" LCD, and I see that many vendors are offering now the under ms respons time LCDs. I have 500 $ for an LCD, using for everything, includin games, graphics, internet, programming. What u suggest for me ?
want to buy Samsung 930BF, it is a new LCD, has 4ms response time, and more that popular 913N it has DVI + MagicBright2. I heard that the colors on 913N are good enough to be considered a PVA panel (tomshardware said that) so I guess 930BF could be as good as 913N at colors quality.

What do u think, to buy it or not ? Other LCDs for 500 $ ? Thanks !

  • I'd choose an Allrounder-Display like FSC P19-2, Eizo L778 or ViewSonic VP191; these displays have likely better colours than Samsung 930BF, better viewing angles and better black.

    Kind regards : )

  • i agree....go for the 8bit panels : viewsonic vp191 (the 8ms version, vp191 has different speeds with same modelname) or viewsonic vp930 (only has one speed: 8ms)

dont get fooled by the 4 ms spec....the 8 ms viewsonic changes ALL pixelcolors at 15 ms...while most fast tn panels (also the samsung 930bf) change half of their pixelcolors at 20 to 30 ms effectively blurring and ghosting more than the vp191/vp930

compare samsung 930bf speed and viewsonic vp930 speed
    samsung:

    viewsonic:

of course both are good for gaming but the 8bit panels kick the bejesus out the tn panel screens ;)

look at the graph of the 4ms viewsonic (tn panel)...its even worse than the 930bf (french text but the latency graph speaks for itself)

so you see...speed specs mean nothing

the samsung 913N is just a 25 ms screen as you can see on this latency graph:
