LG L1940B geometry problem

  • Hello,

I recently bought a new L1940B and when running the Eizo-test I discovered what seem to be some rather serious problems with the geometry of the monitor. The problems are numerous and hard to describe, so I attach a photo below.

The test image displays perfectly on my 15" laptop LCD display. Do I have a faulty monitor? Is there any adjustment I can make to correct the problem?

  • are there any manual options for geometry correction available such as h/v size, keystone etc.?
does it persist at different refresh rates?

  • I've tried adjusting Horizontal and Vertical but it just moves the image up and down the screen. There's no Keystone control.

Yes, it does persist at different refresh rates.

How severe do you think the problem is? In what ways is it likely to affect my use of the monitor?

  • If it is definitely due to the monitor and you can rule out that it's the PC signal or a faulty cable, I would get a replacement from LG.

  • In all other respects the monitor is working well: it displays text clearly and video is surprisingly good (compared to a Sony SDM-S95DRB and a Samsung 770P I've also tried).

I don't think I can get a replacement monitor as this is the last one of its kind I could find in the UK, and LG would probably send me a refurbished one if I tried to make a warranty claim.

Is this likely to be a problem in everyday use of the monitor?

Edit I've just lowered the resolution to 1024x768 and the pattern displays perfectly. What's going on here? ?(
