Eizo S2410W+Notebook with HDMI

  • Hello,

I have Eizo S2410W monitor for two years now. I want to buy a notebook as a desktop replacement, the Sony VGN-FW21E for example.

However, most notebooks only have a HDMI output connector, while my monitor has a DVI-I connector and I think without HDCP.

Does any one know if it is possible to connect this S2410W monitor using a HDMI-DVI adapter (Belkin) to a notebook having a HDMI connection.

Dockingstations with DVI, don't support the 1920x1200 resolution and 32 bit true colors I am using.

    Regards,
    René

Yes it's possible and you don't need an adapter. I would prefer a HDMI to DVI cable. And you have to know that with this connection the sound transmission is not possible.

And you have to find out the maximum output from the HDMI connector. Some connectors only have 1.920 x 1.080 output.

  • Ok, I will check the resolution of the HDMI connetor.

But isn't it a problem when the HDMI out supports HDCP, while my monitor with DVI does not support HDCP?

I use my system for normal office applications and Photoshop CS2 imaging. I don't use the system for watching video etc..
