[Help] Deciding between 3 H-IPS monitors

  • Hello.

First of all, greets to all the community and thanks for becoming a reference in LCD/TV analysis. After owning CRT-based monitors for all my life, I need to jump to LCD and I am pretty lost.

I am after a new monitor for professional use with the following specs:

    H-IPS
    24" (1920X1200 native)
    400€-500€
    16:9
    HDMI/DVI-D input
90% Professional use (CAD, 3dsMAX, Maya, Photoshop...), 10% casual gaming

The monitors that meet these conditions at the price range, and are available in my country are:

    Philips 240PW9ES

    HP LP2475w

    Dell U2410

They three seem to share the same specs, apart from the special features. The HP seems a bit outdated, and there are some old S-IPS versions out there, so the deal is between the Philips and Dell. Do they all have the exact same panel and revision? Why is the Dell 100€ more expensive than the Philips?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Go for a Nec or an Eizo. Brightness-sensors are worth 100 euro alone, and they have some perfect out-of-the box sRGB models
The Philips BTW is cheaper since it does not have half the inputs of the HP and the Dell.
