Just got an overcomplete DELL U2410, and I wanted to use it to replace my TV at home, but I found out that the brightness cannot be set when the source is component or composite. Yes you can SET the brightness, but it only changes the input signal (in a horrible picture destroying way, it does not even SIMULATE backlight dimming), it does not dim the backlight like it does when VGA or DVI is used. That makes the monitor complete useless for watching DVD/playing consoles, as it is a much heat producing over-bright tanning machine then. Does anybody know how to turn down the backlight in video mode?
