We want PixPerAn english version

  • The "Pixel Persistence Analyzer" (PixPerAn) program found in this forum is a very nice piece of software.
    I'm a programmer and know what I'm saying... ;)

I suggest it to all people who want to test his LCD speed, but there is a small problem... we can't understand any writing. :D
And I think is the same for prad english users.

So please PixPerAn developer, everywhere you are, translate your beautiful software in english so we can appreciate it more and more...

    Thanks :]

  • Hi miomao,

    It's me.

Ok, I'll translate it. This evening even. But the manual (pixperan_anleitung.txt) is a bit much, i don't know if i can get that done today.

Probably the translation will be far from perfect... ;)

  • Hi miomao,

pooh... that was more work as i expected...

Sorry, i don't have enough time to translate the full manual text. Perhaps you can ask somebody else to grab the text file from the german version and translate it?

At least i translated the program itself. If anything is translated too badly please let me know.

    Here is the link:

Anybody knows where to get a legally water-proof legal statement? I don't want to be sued just for not choosing the right words for "use at your own risk".

Of course PixPerAn does not _intend_ to kill your TFT. But it is a test program, and thus it displays animations which a "normal" program would not display. Many TFT's show "ghost pictures" for a while after showing flickering contents like in PixPerAn. On all TFT's i know those "ghost pictures" disappear after some time. But i heared of TFT's with "burnt in" pictures of desktops and menues. I don't doubt these TFT's were somewhat defective. But If something like this might happen with PixPerAn some bad day, i'd really like to be on the safe side.

  • Use at/on your own risk is ok.

Just write sth like:be aware! this is a test-programm, the author is not accountable for any damages.

  • I not claim a so fast work... thanks very much. 8o

The manual is not a big problem.
I can try tro use a translator and refine the result if you want.
But I hope to found someone with better english skill.

For the legal statement I think you are right.
Some people with poor computer experience can blame PixPerAn for a monitor factory defect... even if this not have any sense. :(

Personally I not have the intention to spread this software everywhere.
I frequent a italian newsgroup about monitors and users are already enough experienced.

I believe a quick solution can be to put a message box with something like:

"THIS SOFTWARE COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!"

Now I run to try the new version... :))

I have put my msg in the free.it.comp.hardware.monitor newsgroup with precautions and thanksgivings...
So you can check that also italian prad fans make only good use of your work. ;)

"THIS SOFTWARE COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!"

    Buon giorno,

    come stai?

The sentence doesn´t fit to 100%. Yours is good for ebay ;)

    ciao

  • Hello together,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Actually, in the PixPerAn_Readme.txt file there are already these two lines:

" PixPerAn comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
You may use PixPerAn solely AT YOUR OWN RISK. "

I just was not sure if this is enough. Well, for any _sensible_ user, it should be. But i don't know too much about legalese...

My sentence is only a sample, I don't know what's the better way...
I also thought to a initial message box with a "I agree" button to continue and "I disagree"/"Cancel" to leave the program.

  • Hello miomao,

    Thanks for your suggestions,

Though, i'd prefer to keep the legal stuff out of the program, if it is possible. I hope it is enough if the legal statements are placed in the PixPerAn_ReadMe.txt

Edit: Were the translations in the program OK? If you find any errors it would be nice if you could report them.
