    Hi,
Although the 971p looks better on paper as far as technical specs are concerned, there are not many user reports available about it yet. But so far nothing negative either.
The S1910, on the other hand, is a well proven monitor with lots of positive user reports available, and will certainly meet your needs.
You'll have to decide if you are willing to take to take that slight risk of going for the very new and untested - yet promising - Samsung, or instead take the safe route with the Eizo.

To further reduce brightness you can use the brightness option provided in the NVIDIA detonator driver settings. It is separately adjustable for Desktop mode and 3D applications.
Alternatively you can just tone down red, green and blue color channels by equal amounts in the OSD. This basically does the same thing as brightness.

    Hi!

Although the W19-1 by all means does offer great value for its price, I would be a little more inclined towards the 940BW, because of its better vertical viewing angle (not just in specs, but also judging from user reports); just as its faster respone time appears to be better suited for your purpose, too.

I suppose my 7300GT 128MB DDR3 should have no problem with custom resolution like 1440x900?

For native 1440 x 900 res, the 7300GT is somewhat on the weak side - that is, assuming you mean recent game titles. It might work with details turned down, though.

From what i know, the L1919S has 1000:1 contrast and lacks DVI.

Perhaps you meant the L1952, which is specified at 1400:1 contrast?
Also note that, in TN panel monitors, contrast ratios exceeding 700:1 should generally be taken with a grain of salt, as this refers to dynamic contrast which is only achieved with the help of some measurement cheats and only under certain lab conditions.

Great display. At its price point, it is actually one of the most frequently recommended widescreen monitors for gaming in this forum.
You can rest assured that this statement is backed up by countless positive user reports in the german section of this forum.
However, keep in mind that brightness uniformity can often vary among different units of the same model, particularly so in widescreen monitors. But this is something you are not going to notice unless you are looking at a very dark (meaning near black) image and actively searching for it.
In a nutshell, you are not going to notice it during gaming.

Fujitsu Siemens is very good, but I have my doubts if it happened to him just as to samssung 970p with the arm.

It's because of the proprietary design of the 970p's stand. The fujitsu Siemens is quite different. According to a quick forum search, none of the many P19-2 users on this board have reported such problems with the arm.

sorry, it appears I didn't put that quite clear enough. it must have come across as if hc gamers are likely to 'change your view' or something like that. (?)
but no, that's not the case.
by "entirely different view" I mean that hardcore gamers have a different (opposite) opinion than, for example, I do.
Meaning they mostly prefer TN panels because, to them, getting that slight edge on speed is worth the quality loss.

    interesting!
"November 2006", hmmm... finally something on availability, although i must say that I have come to develop a certain scepticism towards release dates in general.
ok, are we taking bets here? :P I say January.

Also, how come that all recommended LCDs for gaming are
with TN panels? Arent PVA panels generally better?

    because..
    1. TN panels are somewhat faster than PVA+overdrive panels
    2. TN panels are cheaper to manufacture, thus allowing for affordable monitor pricing, which in turn makes for easier marketing among the (less solvent) target group of (mostly young) gamers.

IMO, comparing TN with PVA+overdrive, the speed advantage that one gets from TN monitors is out of all proportions to the image quality sacrifice that one has to put up with.
However, when asking hardcore gamers about this, they take an entirely different view on this, and rightly so (because it's valid on their terms).
