Eizo L767 info

  • Hello forum,
    after a looong search I've bought a 19'' Eizo L767.

I want only to say this monitor is a real beauty to all have some doubt... and make a little question...

It is possible the L767 adopt a Samsung PVA panel like Nec 1980SX? ?(

Looking the panel I have this feeling.

    Ciao

  • Afaik nobody manufactures a 19" IPS panel, therefore the panel in the L767 must be MVA or PVA.
Technical specs also point to a VA-Panel.

  • What's wrong with your Eizo L685, darling?

  • Ciao newboardmember!!

    Don't beat me...... ;)
    I've changed L685 with L767

I'm very happy with this monitor and I'm only curious to know the panel manufacturer.
Somewhere is written is a Fujitsu MVA, but it look more like a Samsung PVA.

I will never change a monitor in my life... not in Italy.... 8)

    Ciao

  • Why did you change your L685, any problems?

    Hello miomao,

yes, eizo implemented a Samsung PVA-Panel into the L767. That eizo wrotes into the technical datasheet they gave me at CeBIT fair.

By the why, you are from Italy? I had a wonderful vacation in your country in Liguria.. ;)

  • newboardmember,
EIZO L685 has perfect image quality but bad response time.
I don't know why it differ so much in speed from L565 Super-IPS...

    Thanks Weideblitz,
    I don't have eye? :D

I recognize the PVA panel from the particular surface.
I think Fujitsu MVA is still a bit faster, but Samsung has made avery good job with this.

I'm in Umbria, we not have sea like Liguria but nice country and arts.
Also Sicilia is a dream place.

If you remove mafia, government and other little things....... we are perfect. ;)

    Ciao

  • Well, this is affirmative ...

Italy is beautiful ... the girls, the food, the beach - I love your country :)) :))

    Thanks newboardmember :))

I found this very interesting doc:

    L565 has a 30ms Hitachi panel
    L685 has a 40ms IDT panel

    This explain the speed gap.
    I never heard IDT... ?(

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, but currently yes :D

    Back to the L767:
Some items I'm wondering about your opinion:

    The L767 doesn't have
    - a contrast control
    - 1:1 view of smaller resolutions
    - interpolaton of smaller resolutions by correct aspect ratio

Nevertheless the level adjustment was a little clumsy.

    These points didn't affect you?

    Sometimes yes, sometimes no

This is the point ... but currently it's really good, like the whole year in the average. So we would need the beach and the girls urgently ... :))

Regarding your TFT: Why Eizo L685 or 767 and not NEC 1880SX or 1980SX?

    - 1:1 view of smaller resolutions

Yes, there is not a contrast control and I like this. :)
Contrast in LCD is only an illusion, because the
    OSD operate on colors reproduction.
So changing the contrast you have a gray->white or a
    white->gray..........
I think the Eizo choice is very professional, and there
are also temperature, gamma, saturation, hue, gain
with both analog and digital connection.

For 1:1 view and aspect ratio correction, I don't
need but I think for someone can be useful.
    This is a lack...

The only option I really envy to Nec 1980SX is the "sharpness".
Sometime text look too sharp on LCD and this option can avoid to use ClearType fonts.
If I have understanded the function...

Regarding your TFT: Why Eizo L685 or 767 and not NEC 1880SX or 1980SX?

    ...and why NEC 1980SX? :P

I don't need the pivot function, so I have prefered to save near 200 euro.
The L767 is perfect for me...

    I've also a L367 as secondary display and I don't like...
Bad panel.... scarce lightness uniformity and vertical viewing angle. 8o

This is the evidence that no brand has only good products... :(

  • P.S.

The L767 has a "smoothing" option to change interpolation level of non native resolutions, but the result is not really useful.

  • Oh, you are right. I did not htink on that, but it is quite true. Thank you! :)
In fact changing the contrast in one or the other direction leads just to a reduced quality of colour reproduction.

Really, Eizo L767 is 200 Euro cheaper than 1980SX?????

I've bought L767 for 919 euro (tax included)
while Nec 1980SX cost over 1100 euro.

This week I see 1980SX is priced 1050.

    Obviously these are "italian" prices...
