    16:10
    wide gamut
    I've two passions photography and watching movies/tv: 40% photos 30% dvd/movies 20% internet 10% office

The SV version is with SpectraView II Software and colorimeter. If you want to calibrate your monitor it's the right choice.

  • You need the NEC software for hardware calibration. The Xrite sensor works fine with that, but the Xrite software will only calibrate the LUT in the graphics card.
Unfortunately, the NEC SpectraView software is a bit hard to come by outside the US, so buying he SV version is easier for most people. If you can get SVII, the buying the PA and the Xrite colorimeter is a good solution (I use SVII on my PA301w).

In Europe you can't buy the SV version. You have to buy the software separately. The only shop I know you'll find here:

so if i've understood correctly i'd have to take the PA242W-BKand then the software that is only available in the site above. Can i not take the x-rite colorimeter?

  • If you only get the xrite colorimeter with the xrite software, then you will not be able to perform hardware calibration.
Or in other words, your graphics card LUT will be used for the calibration, not the monitor LUT.
And that would be shame, as calibration with the monitor LUT minimizes potential banding effects that could be generated by the LUT manipulations. (And using SV II in general tends to give better results than the xrite software, which I experienced on my screens, I use an Xrite spectro, the ColorMunki)
It all depends on how accurate you want your display to be.
Most people by the high end NEC screens to max out quality.....

You need the software Spectraview II and a colorimeter i1 display pro or MDSVSENSOR3 (form NEC).

  • So i see that the cx240 is supplied with the sw Colornavigator elements for calibration. The full pack is optional.
A friend of my advised me that there's also the Eizo cg223 that its smaller but it has the full pack of colornavigator and the hood.

Anybody know the difference between the elemets and full release of CN?

I've seen that pa242w + Spectraview software (from above site) is cheaper than the spectraview 242 i've found. At last the two solutions give really the same result?

Do you know if nec warranty is valid in Italy if the monitor is bought from German Amazon?
